Montage-it! Photomontage
Day Time
The castle shown in the below is actually my conceptual model. It has been made into a castle because of the similarity in shape. It's shape has been slightly modified and several structural changes/additions have been made, as well as some rendering (drawn, then scanned in), to make it look like a castle. This fits is with the medieval theme set by the dragon and the wizard. The river carries on the notion of movement from the conceptual model and Hopper's painting.
Dusk/Night Time
The colour of the background image reminded me of The Lion King. Hence, the silhouettes of various animals across the image. However, my model in the form of a silhouette looked like an ark. This reminded me of Noah's ark.
Once again, the structure of my model had to be slightly modified (drawn rendering, then scanned in) to resemble that of an ark.
Workshop 3: Conceptual Model
Conceptual Model 2
I decided to go with the design shown below because;
I decided to go with the design shown below because;
- the metal wire gives the entire form a solid and definite physical shape. This represents the 'stillness' of the vehicle shown in Hopper's 'Car Chair'.
- The difference in height in each section, or frame, of the model represents the concept of 'motion' depicted in the painting.
- The hollow interior demonstrates the notion of time. Although the model shows both notions of movement and stillness, time still passes through it all.
- Furthermore, the idea was also drawn from the idea of a train going through a tunnel. The model corresponds to the form of a tunnel, also implying the notion of movement.
The outside cladding is newspaper.

Workshop 3: Montage-it!
Conceptual Model
The artist that I chose to take my inspiration from for my conceptual model was Edward Hopper. I chose his painting, 'Car Chair (1965)', and from that, I did a conceptual sketch to stimulate various ideas.
My interpretation of the painting was;

- The interior space shown in the painting looks like a train or some sort of vehicle.
- However, this vehicle does not appear to be moving but is rather stationary. This could be due to the fact that the chairs are similar to those used within homes and not in public transport.
- It could also be influenced by the fact that the exterior is not visible through the windows. Only light is passing through the windows.
- Hence, my model had to portray both concepts of movement and stillness.
Workshop 2: Draw-it! Final
Final Copies
Final copies including; sections, plans, elevations and a 3 dimensional sketch. Rendering was done primarily in colour pencils. Scale 1:100.

Workshop 2: Draw-it!
Draft Plans
Initial copies of plans, sections and elevations of the Fisher House. It was done on tracing paper with various felt tip pens. Scale 1:100.

Workshop 1: Model-it! Poster
Model-it! Poster
An A3 poster promoting model making. It comprises of pictures of my models made throughout the workshop and demonstrates how model making is a method of effective communication between architects, allowing for 'design conversation'.
Workshop 1: Fisher House Site Model
Fisher House Site Model
This is a representation of the site around Kahn's Fisher House. The model is made of boxboard and is at a scale of 1:200.
